The Alexander Technique is a self-help technique that gives you tools to identify and change habits of tension that may show as back pain, muscle tension, poor posture, lack of balance, poor breathing.
Life today demands that we respond to situations ever more quickly. This can create a sense of pressure coming from both outside and inside (from the demands we make of ourselves). All this can lead to a build-up of tension that we are unable to release. “How do I let go?” is often the question we ask.
During lessons, a light hand contact and the use of words helps you re-discover a better co-ordination, greater self-awareness, and mindfulness; it teaches ways of coping with stress and physical problems, and how to release any unnecessary tension that may be causing problems. Alexander Technique sees the human being as a whole – physical, mental, emotional, spiritual; as such, whatever affects any part of the human being affects the whole. The Technique is a skill for life.
